The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County, in partnership with the Collective Palette, has received a $1,500 grant from the Ohio Arts Council to fund the Empowering Artists with Disabilities initiative. The grant allows three participating artists to engage in activities including art classes, educational trips, exhibitions, and the sale of their work.

Trumbull Art Gallery will support this grant by providing art classes and an exhibition featuring the work of artists in the program. The Trumbull Art Gallery’s new makers’ space, the TAG Underground, will host the Collective Palette and provide art instructors in support of the grant.

Funding was made possible, in part, by state tax dollars allocated by the Ohio Legislature to the Ohio Arts Council.

Established in 2015, Collective Palette Studio collaborates with disability-service organizations, including REM Ohio, Siffrin Inc., Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and Western Reserve Independent Living Center. The initiative supports and encourages approximately 75 artists annually by offering opportunities to display and sell work. In addition, artists receive care, transportation, and support. The organization is located at The Fine Arts Council’s Art on Park, a community center for individual artists’ studios, art organizations, galleries and art shows.
