A $50,000 grant will assist in the technology education of older Mahoning County residents.

Jewish Family & Community Services recently received the award from Direction Home of Eastern Ohio to assist Mahoning County residents 60 and over with technology education and access.

With the grant, JFCS will purchase technology such as tablets and other devices to help decrease isolation and increase mental health in older adults, and to assist them with learning to use the devices efficiently.

Among other programs, JFCS, in collaboration with the JCC of Youngstown, offers “Tech Tuesday,” a class that teaches the basics of technology at a slower pace of learning, and includes tips and settings for smartphones or tablets and online tools such as Gmail or Google Maps.

Jewish Family & Community Services seeks to meet the social service needs of the community through diverse programs and services including guardianships, counseling, senior outreach, and home delivered meals. For more information visit jewishyoungstown.org….
