Opera Western Reserve is acknowledging contributions from the Aimee and Lulu Seidel Foundation ($5,000) and the Warren P. Williamson Jr. Fund of the Youngstown Foundation ($1,000), which will help support the Opera Western Reserve Young Artists program of free educational outreach to schools in the tri-county area.

As part of this outreach effort, Opera Western Reserve Young Artists will present “Jack and the Beanstalk” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 5 in the Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom at Stambaugh Auditorium. This educational and entertaining production is appropriate for children of all ages.

Because the “Beanstalk” set is fully transportable, Opera Western Reserve is also making this children’s opera available for performances in school classrooms and auditoriums. Teachers can reserve a “Beanstalk” performance for their school or classroom by calling 330-480-0693 or emailing

The Young Artists regular program also includes “Fun with Opera,” an interactive performance which encourages students help to create a scenario for a one-of-a-kind improvised opera. In addition, Opera Western Reserve is developing an Opera Ambassador program, using individual Young Artists to team teach with music teachers.
