The Ohio Arts Council has awarded Opera Western Reserve a $12,000 grant through the Ohio Arts Council CARES Act.
Opera Western Reserve’s 2020-21 productions are made possible, in part, by state tax dollars allocated by the Ohio Legislature to the Ohio Arts Council, a state agency that funds and supports the arts.
The Ohio Arts Council announced 296 grant awards totaling $20 million in economic relief from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act for the arts and culture sector.
CARES Act funds were made available to the Ohio Arts Council through the initiative of Gov. Mike DeWine and state legislative leaders and through the approval of the state’s Controlling Board.
In place of its live fall performance, Opera Western Reserve is offering “OWR Presents: A Taste of La Traviata.” The online production takes a fresh look at Verdi’s opera and was recorded and filmed at Stambaugh Auditorium.
The digital performance includes interviews with the singers and other extras. The production premiered on Nov. 13 and remains available for on-demand viewing. Access is $19.95 and may be purchased and viewed by visiting www.operawesternreserve.org… or by downloading Stambaugh Auditorium’s Digital Concert Hall app.
