The Better Business Bureau of Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties is announcing a new partnership with COSE and Medical Mutual of Ohio to bring a new health-care option to BBB-accredited businesses.
The COSE Health and Wellness Trust, also known as the COSE MEWA, is designed as a self-funded option for businesses with 50 or fewer employees and could also be a good option for business owners with no employees.
The COSE MEWA offers a wide variety of plan options; prescription drug, dental, vision and life insurance options; and access to money saving tools, resources and wellness programs.
What are the advantages of a self-funded plan?
• The COSE Trust offers rate stability, the flexibility of benefit options and recognition of preferred-health status. Employers can choose from many benefit plan options, including Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs), with varying deductibles and coinsurance.
• The COSE Trust may be less expensive for group than similar ACA plans.
• The COSE Trust is not subject to some state health insurance regulations/benefit mandates, as self-funded health plans are regulated under federal law (ERISA). Therefore, the benefit options may be less expensive.
BBB-accredited businesses that participate in the COSE MEWA also will receive a 10 percent rebate on COSE membership dues.
To learn more about the COSE MEWA and the potential benefits, BBB-accredited businesses are invited to an educational Lunch & Learn at noon on Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Holiday Inn Boardman.
