Beer and wine taste to benefit Ursuline Sisters HIV/AIDS Ministry Nov. 13

The Youngstown Area Grocers Annual Beer and Wine Tasting occurs 6-9 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.

The event is hosted by the Ohio Grocers Association and will benefit the children’s program of the Ursuline Sisters HIV/AIDS Ministry.

Guests can sample more than 100 wines and 50 microbrews, appetizers, entrees and desserts from local vendors. The evening also features a silent auction, a basket raffle and a 50/50 drawing.

For over 25 years, the Ursuline Sisters HIV/AIDS Ministry has been providing HIV medical care, support groups, housing and children’s services for those living with HIV. The program serves 57 children in Youngstown who are living with or affected by HIV/AIDS.

Ministry services include weekly tutoring for children from kindergarten to high school; mentoring and life-skills building for teens and young adults; a home visitation program for infants through preschool aged children; a monthly play support group and recreational outings; a summer program featuring tutoring, outings, meals and more; advocacy, intervention and assistance in issues concerning housing, education, social services, material needs and physical well-being.
