Two career fairs this week will focus on job opportunities with battery-cell technology. Ultium Cells is hosting the events to engage with the community, share more information about what a career in manufacturing battery cells looks like, and help fill open positions.

Interested candidates will be able to speak directly with Ultium Cells recruiters.

The first career fair occurs 1-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 29 at Eastwood Mall Event Centre, 5555 Youngstown Warren Road, Niles 44446. A second event takes place from noon-6 p.m., Wednesday, June 30 at the Community Literacy Workforce and Cultural Center, 436 Struthers Coitsville Road, Lowellville 44436. The center is located near Campbell Middle School.

Company representatives will answer questions, discuss opportunities and guide potential candidates through the application process. Representatives will also provide brief presentations about Ultium Cells.

Ultium Cells will mass-produce Ultium battery cells to advance the push for a zero-emissions, all-electric future.

Ultium Cells is a joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solution that hopes to create over 1,100 new jobs at its 2.8 million-square-foot facility in Lordstown. The plant will equal the size of 30 football fields and will have annual capacity of over 30 gigawatt hours with room to expand.

GM and LG Energy Solution are investing $2.3 billion to support EV manufacturing in the U.S., and, in turn, local jobs, education, career training and infrastructure.

“This is a great opportunity for us to connect with the community and help people learn more about a career in battery cell manufacturing, no matter their previous working experience,” said Tom Gallagher, chief operating officer. “…We look forward to helping the community get on the ground floor with us and be a part of a team producing battery cells for electric vehicles.”

Interested candidates can view and apply to open positions on the Ultium Cells website.
