Youngstown CityScape will kick off Streetscape 2024 with an open house at its new downtown offices. The event will occur 8 a.m., Friday, March 15 at 250 E. Federal St.

The open house will launch fundraising efforts for CityScape’s 27th annual Streetscape planting day. On Saturday, June 1, volunteers will remove debris, plant flowers and shrubs and mulch planting areas. Downtown and area restaurants will provide lunch during the annual June event.

Planting areas will include Central Square, East and West Federal streets, and various entry points into the downtown. As in years past, volunteers will landscape City Hall, Wick Park, and Harrison Commons in Smoky Hollow. CityScape is encouraging neighborhood groups to start making plans for citywide beautification efforts.

“Our newly constructed downtown infrastructure has created lots of green space to plant,” said CityScape Executive Director Sharon Letson. “We think Streetscape 2024 is the perfect way to reconnect the community with the center city, help green up our downtown, gateways, and neighborhoods, and start the summer season off right!”

Volunteers can sign up at www.YoungstownCityScape.org…. The first 500 registrants will receive a free T-shirt.

Youngstown CityScape is a nonprofit community development organization dedicated to revitalization of the greater downtown Youngstown area.
