Columbiana announces Firestone Dog Park donation match in April

The Restoration and Beautification Committee of Columbiana is announcing that throughout the month of April total donations made to the Firestone Dog Park Campaign will be matched up to $20,000 by Firestone Dog Park committee member Richard McBane.

“This generous matching gift by Richard McBane ensures that our beloved four-footed companions benefit as well with a designated area to run, jump and play – the Firestone Dog Park,” said Pat Tingle, Restoration and Beautification committee member.

Donations cane be made directly at Go Fund Me, by check to P.O. Box 53, Columbiana, Ohio 44408 (make checks payable Columbiana R&B/FDP), or via the website at www.RestoreColumbiana.com.

The Firestone Dog Park is one aspect of Restoration & Beautification’s efforts. Other projects include:

  • Town Square Corners and Clock, including pavers, landscaping, walls;
  • North End “Welcome to Columbiana” sign and bridge;
  • Main Street landscaping and Main Street Common Pocket Park;
  • Mirror Lake restoration and landscaping, including water features, benches, sidewalks;
  • Increasing accessibility in Firestone Park, including new sidewalks from pool parking lot to football stadium, around Mirror Lake and adjacent ball courts;
  • Replacing swing sets and teetertotters throughout park;
  • Enhancing landscaping around pavilions and common areas, including new trash receptacles; brick valley gutters using historic bricks (completed in conjunction with the city of Columbiana);
  • Reforestation throughout Firestone Park, adding two to three trees for each tree lost;
  • Adding pickleball courts, resurfacing tennis courts, redesigning a regulation-sized basketball court, as well as resurfacing softball fields;
  • Repairing and resurfacing the failing exterior of the Pool House;
  • Developing Idabelle Firestone’s Gathering Place & Garden, including Legacy Trail.
