Dana Composition Studio to premiere original student work | The world premieres will occur on the on the McDonough Museum of Art and Cliffe College YouTube channels.
The Dana Composition Studio, directed by Dr. David Morgan, will offer a concert of world premieres by student composers at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28 on the McDonough Museum of Art and Cliffe College YouTube channels.
The concert, “If We Could Turn Back, An Evening of New Music by the YSU Composition Studio” is part of the Dana at McDonough Series. It features original compositions by 11 students in Morgan’s studio.
“YSU music composition majors have been creating in a wide variety of styles and genres this semester. ‘If We Could Turn Back,’ will include music for solo piano, woodwind quintet, string quartet, art song, electro-acoustic music, microtonal music, contemporary jazz, and fusion,” said Morgan.
Composition students include Enzo Chiodi, Pittsburgh; Jesse Crownover, Pittsburgh; Maxwell Franko, Poland; Brandon Hackimer, Pittsburgh; Logan Hoffner, Gibsonia, Pa.; Dai Hong, Falls Church, Va.; Andrew Karkosiak, Broadview Heights; Brendan McEvoy, Cortland; Daniel Mihelarakis, Coraopolis, Pa.; Severino Paredes, Vandergrift, Pa.; and Juan Rodriguez, Warren.
Other students who will perform as part of a supporting ensemble are: Kayla Gilmore, flute; Camryn Doctor, oboe; Colin Davis, clarinet; Abaigael Mamish-Stotler, bassoon; Sydney DiCenso, soprano; Dai Hong, piano; Ian Kinnaman, double bass; Sean Garza, electric bass; Owen Davis, drum set; Audrey Jobe, violin; Kathryn Sewall, violin; Cas Stanaford, viola; Sean Williams, guitar; and Dana faculty member Dr. Kivie Cahn-Lipman, cello.
