Choffin Career and Technical Center’s Early Childhood Education scholars are hosting a donation drive to collect youth gloves, mittens, hats, socks and scarves as part of the program’s community service project.
Donations benefit Mahoning County Children Services.
The public can drop off donations from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21 and Tuesday, Dec. 22 at Choffin Career and Technical Center, 200 E. Wood St., Youngstown.
A container marked “Mitten Tree” will be located outside of the building on the designated donation days. Early Childhood Education program instructor Kaylor White, along with program scholars, will be in attendance should assistance be needed.
For nearly 40 years, the Early Childhood Education program at Choffin has coordinated a Mitten Tree to collect donations during the holiday season. With remote learning in place, White still wanted to coordinate an effort and decided on a socially-distanced, two-day donation drive.
