Holiday Parade, Light-up Night, Flea on Phelps set for Dec. 2

The City of Youngstown will host its annual Holiday Parade and Light-up Night from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. The festivities also include an open-air holiday market on North Phelps Street.

Activities are presented by the City of Youngstown, Youngstown CityScape, and the Downtown Youngstown Partnership. Premier Bank is the title sponsor.

The holiday event will include pictures with Santa (sponsored by Spruce), commemorative mugs (sponsored by Platt Insurance), and family-friendly activities. In addition, downtown bars and restaurants will be open before and after the parade.

Special holiday activities include:

Flea on Phelps. The Youngstown Flea will present its annual holiday market on North Phelps Street (between West Federal and West Commerce streets). The Flea features local and regional merchants selling arts, antique and repurposed furniture, vintage clothing, collectibles, jewelry, candles, food, drink and produce. Friday’s open-air holiday market begins at 4 p.m. The Youngstown Flea also continues indoors (9 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4.) at their regular location (365 E. Boardman St.).

Holiday Parade. The Holiday Parade begins at 6 p.m. The parade originates in the Covelli Centre parking lot. Parade route: left/west on West Front Street; right/north on South Chestnut Street and Vindicator Square; and right/east on West Federal Street to Central Square and the grandstand. The parade then crosses Central Square and heads east on East Federal Street toward South Champion Street. At Champion, the parade turns right/south and heads south on Champion toward East Front Street and the Covelli Centre. Groups participating in the parade should arrive and check in between 4:30-5:15 p.m. at the Covelli Centre parking lot. The lineup starts at 5:30 p.m. To participate in the parade, sign up here. The Christmas Tree Lighting (and Light-up Night) begins immediately after the parade (approximately 7:15-7:30 p.m.).

Light-up Night and the Christmas Tree Lighting. Central Square, downtown Youngstown. Light-Up Night kicks the switch for the downtown Christmas tree and lights around Central Square (and throughout downtown). (It begins at approximately 7:15-7:30 p.m.).
