Hometown Holidays set for Saturday in downtown Warren
Highlights include a holiday parade and tree lighting, musical performances, and various children’s activities. Downtown restaurants will be open with food, live music and specials. (Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County)

Hometown Holidays will occur from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 in downtown Warren.

Highlights from the second annual event include a holiday parade and tree lighting, musical performances, children’s activities and an art sale. Downtown restaurants will be open with food, live music and specials.

The event is a project of the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County and the Trumbull County Historical Society.

Scheduled events include:

  • Olaf and Elsa (“Frozen”) meet-and-greet (Courthouse Square Park). 4-6 p.m.
  • Candy Land Lane (Warren Library, 444 Mahoning Ave.). 4-6:30 p.m.
  • Amanda Beagle Voice Studio (stage adjacent to Courthouse Square gazebo). 4:15-5 p.m.
  • Holiday Parade. 5-5:45 p.m.
  • Tree Lighting (Courthouse Square Park). Warren Mayor William “Doug” Franklin will light the tree. 5:45-6:15 p.m.
  • Meet Santa at the Log Cabin (Memorial Park, Mahoning Avenue). 6-8 p.m.
  • Whispery Pines Carriage Rides (Courthouse Square). 6-8 p.m.
  • Warren G. Harding Choir (Courthouse Square Park). 6:15-6:45 p.m.
  • Line Dancing with Kissa (stage adjacent to Courthouse Square gazebo). 7:15-8 p.m.

Other activities:

Art – The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County will be holding an “Art Under $100” show at Art on Park (180 N. Park Ave.). Open art studios also occur at Shuttic Arts, Dovey Wuvey, Samandra Lynne Photography, and Dave Karr Studio. The studios are located in the Art on Park building.

Family activities – The Warren Heritage Center/Kinsman House (303 Mahoning Court N.W., 44483) will host an open house and offer ornament decorating for children. The Wean Foundation (147 W. Market St.) will show holiday movies. The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library (444 Mahoning Ave.) will offer a Candy Land Lane for children 6 and under. The library will provide shuttle services. Trumbull Family Fitness (210 High St. N.W.) will offer Letters to Santa.

Performances – A stage will be set up adjacent to the Courthouse Square Park gazebo. Performers include the Warren G. Harding Choir, Amanda Beagle Vocal Studios, and Line Dancing with Kissa. D.J. Simply Ed will provide music from the gazebo. The Harding Choir will perform near the holiday tree after the lighting.

Shopping – Includes a Children’s Christmas Market at Fatty Cakes Soap Co. (144 E. Market St.) and BRITE Energy Innovators (125 W. Market St.) will have vendors from Youngstown Business Incubator and the Youngstown Flea.

Restaurants – A number of restaurants on Courthouse Square will offer special menus, live music, and places to warm up during the event. Some participating downtown restaurants include Beautiful Whirl’d, the Saratoga, Noodle Fun, Nova Coffee Co., Modern Methods, and West & Main. In addition, Frank DelGarbino (Leo’s Ristorante) will have ice sculpture displays and festival-goers can get a sneak peek for Downtown 124, a new restaurant planned for North Park Avenue. The Salvation Army will also serve hot chocolate during the event.
