JCC to host ‘Little Rock Nine’ figure Oct. 10

The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation will host “Lunch with Minnijean” Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown. The luncheon occurs at noon.

Minnijean Brown-Trickey is one of a group of African-American teenagers known as the “Little Rock Nine.” On Sept. 25, 1957, under the gaze of 1,200 armed soldiers and a worldwide audience, Brown-Trickey faced down an angry mob and helped to desegregate Central High in Little Rock, Ark.
