The monthly reading series, currently celebrating its tenth year, features Midwestern authors of poetry, science fiction, literary fiction, horror and journalism.
“This monthly reading has given us a chance to invite 240 authors to share their work and it’s been a blast,” said Lit Youngstown Director Karen Schubert. “When I was a student, I was thrilled to meet visiting writers, and I love that Lit Youngstown can offer these live readings, maybe a conversation with the author, a new book to take home.”
The reader series began in February 2015 at Suzie’s Dogs and Drafts with “Fallen City Writers” anthology contributors Terry Murcko, George Peffer, Neno Perrotta, Jeanne Mahon, Jim Villani, Susan Wojnar and Rosalind Ansevin.
The series moved to the Soap Gallery for several years, online during the pandemic, and back to the Soap Gallery before relocating to Westside Bowl when the gallery closed.
“As we mark our 10th year of readings, we thank all those who have graced our stage. We are especially tender-hearted for those voices and places we have lost, and also chuffed to bring another group of phenomenal writers to Youngstown,” said Schubert. “Who would like these readings? Anyone who loves a good story.”
