LOOP Youngstown Arts & Culture Center is announcing “Art is Work,” a series of free workshops designed specifically for working artists in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys.

Sessions are tailored to help artists of all disciplines enhance their professional knowledge, expand their creative practices and connect with their peers in the local artistic community.

The series includes five workshops. Led by industry experts and accomplished professionals, each workshop aims to provide actionable tools and insights that can be immediately applied to an artist’s practice.

Workshops will take place from January through April at locations throughout the Valley, including Art on Park and Trumbull Art Gallery (TAG) in Warren and the McDonough Museum and Oak Hill Collaborative in Youngstown.

Workshops include:

  • “How to Build an Artist Website” with Elizabeth Franklin.
  • “How to Enter Art Shows” with David Wheeler.
  • “Writing Artists Grants” with Dragana Crnjak.
  • “Behind the Scenes of Art Exhibitions” with Robyn Maas.
  • “Accounting for Artists” with Jennifer Nesmith.

Workshops are free and preregistration is required. Interested artists can register for any of the five multi-session workshops by visiting www.loopyoungstown.org…. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

“The arts are a big part of making the Youngstown area a gem of a place to live,” said LOOP board chair Karen Schubert. “We are so thankful to program partners and funders for the opportunity to help connect artists with resources as we kick off our ‘Art is Work’ series.”

LOOP Youngstown received funding for the series from the Ohio Arts Council and the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.
