Youngstown State University’s McDonough Museum of Art will feature a series of virtual exhibitions on its social media platforms during Black History Month. Every weekday throughout February, the museum will spotlight a different artist on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Featured artists include El Anatsui, Abigail DeVille, Jack Whitten, Ellen Gallagher, and Rashid Johnson. Additional artists can also be viewed in a BlackLivesMatter-BlackArtistsMatter slide presentation on the McDonough Museum’s website.

In addition, the McDonough will offer weekly in-person screenings of “The Foreigner’s Home,” a feature-length documentary (56 minutes) on the vision and work of Toni Morrison. Screenings occur every Wednesday at noon in the McDonough Museum’s lecture hall.

Seating is limited to 24 with social distancing and masks required. Private screenings for classes and small groups may be arranged by calling Claudia Berlinski at 330-941-1371.

The documentary was written, produced, and directed by Oberlin College faculty members Rian Brown and Geoff Pingree. Jonathan Demme was executive producer.

More information is available by calling the Office of Community Engagement and Events at 330-727-7514.
