A $105,000 grant from the Mercy Health Foundation will allow the Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing our Neighborhoods (ACTION) to expand its Mobile Market initiative. The grant will be applied toward voucher reimbursements and allow the Mobile Market to extend its services to over 7,000 households in the coming year.
The Mobile Market currently makes 35-40 weekly stops, mostly in Mahoning County, but plans are under way to expand into Trumbull County this spring. The Mobile Market’s schedule can be found on ACTION’s website or by calling 234-232-7292.
“As we embark upon this new chapter in the Mobile Market’s journey, ACTION extends its deepest gratitude to Mercy Health for their unwavering support and philanthropy,” said the Mahoning Valley nonprofit in a prepared release. “Mercy Health’s commitment to the betterment of our community aligns perfectly with ACTION’s values, creating a fruitful partnership that has a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals.”
The Mobile Market seeks to combat food insecurity and improve access to fresh, nutritious groceries. By bringing the grocery store to the neighborhoods, ACTION aims to ensure that residents have convenient, affordable, and reliable access to food.
The program seeks to reach as many people as possible. To accommodate a larger number of families, the voucher amount for Mobile Market services will change from $25 to $15 in value, effective immediately. According to ACTION, the change is intended to allow the Mobile Market to effectively serve a broader demographic.
The Mobile Market program offers various customer payment options. Alongside the voucher program, the Mobile Market will continue to accept SNAP, EBT, credit cards, debit cards, as well as cash payments.
