Logan Ducks Swim Team. JCC Logan Campus, 3245 Logan Way, Liberty 44505. www.jccyoungstown.org… The Ducks Swim Team is part of the Youngstown Swim League and competes throughout the summer. Advanced swimmers ages 11 and older practice from 8:30-10 a.m. and beginners 10 and under practice from 10-11 a.m. The season runs from early June through the end of July. The Ducklings Swim Team is for ages 3-7 and focuses on stroke technique and endurance. It occurs from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Swim meets are optional for Ducklings. Daily attendance is not mandatory, but encouraged. Register online by Monday, June 6.

Lit Youngstown Poetry Workshop and Reading. Soap Gallery,  17 S. Champion St., Youngstown 44503. Lit Youngstown’s First Wednesday Readers Series will present poets Pauletta Hansel of Cincinnati and Marjorie Maddox of Lock Haven, Pa. Erica Putro will co-host the free reading.  The featured readers will be followed by an open mic. Before the reading, Hansel will offer a poetry writing workshop titled “Finding the Poem in Family Stories.” In this generative workshop, she will provide several examples of poems that use story to do their lyrical work, and provide some prompts to get participants started in writing their own poem. All experience levels are welcome. The workshop registration fee is $20.  Pauletta Hansel’s books include “Heartbreak Tree,” “Friend,” “Coal Town Photograph,” and “Palindrome,” winner of the 2017 Weatherford Award for Appalachian poetry. Her writing  has been featured in Oxford American, Verse Daily and Poetry Daily. She is Cincinnati’s current Poet Laureate and past managing editor of Pine Mountain Sand & Gravel.  A professor of English at Lock Haven University, Marjorie Maddox has published 13 collections of poetry—including “Transplant, Transport, Transubstantiation”; “Begin with a Question”; the ekphrastic collaboration “Heart Speaks, Is Spoken For—What She Was Saying” (stories), and four children’s books. “In the Museum of My Daughter’s Mind” is forthcoming in 2023. 7 p.m.
