The Dana School of Music and McDonough Museum of Art are announcing the next concert in the Muse Series featuring the Dana Piano Trio 7 p.m., Saturday, May 1 on the  Cliffe College YouTube and McDonough YouTube channels.

The Muse Series features innovative expressions of contemporary culture, serving to enrich Northeast Ohio with recitals of groundbreaking new music and dynamic collaborations.

The Dana Piano Trio’s members — violinist Wendy Case, cellist Kivie Cahn-Lipman, and pianist Cicilia Yudha — each have active performing careers as soloists and chamber musicians. They hold degrees from many of the world’s most prestigious conservatories, including the Juilliard School, Cleveland Institute of Music, and Oberlin Conservatory.

The Trio will perform Franz Schubert’s “Trio in Eb Major” (D929) and Adam Schoenberg’s “Luna y mar.”

Wendy Case has performed globally as a chamber musician and recitalist. She is the founding violinist of the Brahms’ Ghost Piano Trio and has collaborated with David Finckel, Amir Eldan, Kirsten Docter, Soovin Kim, and performed in ensembles including the Blossom Festival (Cleveland Orchestra), and the Atlanta Symphony. Her performances have been heard on NPR, in Carnegie Hall, the National Opera Center, the Kimmel Center, and Severance Hall.

She studied at the University of Michigan, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the Stony Brook University. Influential teachers include Andrew Jennings, Yehonatan Berick, Philip Setzer (Emerson Quartet), Soovin Kim, Hai Xin Wu, and William Preucil.

Her current projects include several recording endeavors and a series of presentations on the interplay of advanced string technique and acoustical physics. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, painting, and spending time with friends.

Kivie Cahn-Lipman holds degrees from Oberlin and Juilliard, and he received his doctorate from the University of Cincinnati. He is the founding cellist of the International Contemporary Ensemble—with which he performs regularly to international critical acclaim—as well as founder, lironist, and director of the baroque string band ACRONYM and gambist with the viol consort LeStrange.

Cahn-Lipman appears on more than 40 recordings, with his recording of the complete Cello Suites of J.S. Bach praised for its “eloquent performances,” “fresh thinking,” and “energy and zeal” (The Strad).

As a chamber musician, he has performed frequently in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and other major venues on four continents, as well as live on WNYC 93.9 in New York and WFMT 98.7 in Chicago. He taught cello at Smith and Mount Holyoke Colleges from 2005-2012 and at The College of New Jersey from 2015-2017, and he has been on the faculty of the Cortona Sessions for New Music each summer since 2012. He is on the faculty of the Dana School of Music.

Cicilia Yudh – A versatile solo pianist, avid chamber musician, and dedicated educator, Yudha has given performances, presentations, and master classes in the U.S., Europe, and Southeast Asia. She is a frequent soloist with the Duke University Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Harry Davidson. Navona Records released her debut CD “Selected Piano Works by Robert Casadesus and Henri Dutilleux” in September 2016.

As a creative artist, she has enjoyed collaborations with musicologist Ewelina Boczkowska, tap dancer Claudia Rahardjanoto, and Polish Folk-Dance specialists Christine Cobb and Staś Kmieć. She has presented lecture recitals at TEDx Talks, the Ohio Music Teachers Association Conferences, the College Music Society (CMS) National Conferences, and CMS Regional Conferences. She regularly presents Preview Concert Lectures for the renowned Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall.

Passionate about music education and community service, Yudha is a recipient of the Steinway Top Teacher Award. She holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, New England Conservatory, and the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She is a founding member of the Dana Piano Trio and the Associate Professor of Piano at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University.
