MVHS to explore medicinal roots of modern cocktails | The virtual program is part of MVHS’ monthly “Bites and Bits of History” series.

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will debut “Cheers to Your Health!” at noon on Thursday, Dec. 17. Cassie Nespor, curator at YSU Melnick Medical Museum, will explore the medical ties to contemporary cocktails.

The video is part of MVHS’ monthly “Bites and Bits of History” series. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program will be presented virtually on MVHS’ YouTube channel.

Nespor started working at the Youngstown State University Archives in January 2009. She has a bachelor’s degree in history from Dickinson College and a master’s degree in library science (with a focus in archival studies) from the University of Pittsburgh.

In 2014, Nespor created an exhibit on the medicinal history of alcohol for Cushwa Hall. Since then, she has written related blogs on the Melnick Medical Museum’s website.

“Bites and Bits of History” is presented through support from the John and Loretta Hynes Foundation.
