A drive-through voter registration event is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19 in the parking lot of the Academy of Urban Scholars, 3405 Market St., Youngstown 44507.

To vote in the November election, either on Election Day, early in-person or by absentee ballot, you must register to vote by Oct. 5.

This nonpartisan outdoor event will offer the following services:

  • new voter registration;
  • check your registration information or change your registration address;
  • absentee ballot request;
  • sign up to be a poll worker.

You can drive through at any time during the designated hours. Respecting COVID-19 safety protocols, participants will remain in their vehicle and use their own electronic devices (phones, tablets, etc.). There is no cost to participate.

Additionally, staff from the Census Bureau have been invited to assist citizens with completion of the 2020 census form.

Participating groups include The Academy for Urban Scholars, African American Male Wellness Agency, HolaOhio, The League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown, Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past National Center for Urban Solutions, and Thrive Mahoning Valley.

The Voter Registration Day event is one of many voter registration drives being held across the state by the Diversity & Empowerment Council of Ohio convened by Secretary of State Frank LaRose. Tracy Winbush, Rev. Lewis Macklin and Penny Wells are members on this council from Mahoning County.
