The Dana School of Music is announcing a concert by the YSU Jazz Ensemble and the newly formed Blues Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18 in Kilcawley Center’s Chestnut Room. The performance is free and open to the public.
The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dave Kana, will feature music by Freddie Hubbard, Count Basie, and YSU alumnus Mike Kamuf. The concert will highlight numerous soloists including two jazz vocalists, Haley Tura of Canfield and Kate Landry of Poland.
The concert also marks the inaugural performance of the Blues Ensemble. Director John Anthony is a guitarist and performs harmony vocals for the popular band, The Vindy’s. The Blues Ensemble will feature music made popular by B.B. King, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eric Clapton.
