Generations Café in Columbiana will host a meet-the-artist event with painter Ron Moore Jr. from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22.

The event will feature Moore signing his latest work, a painting of the “New Kids on the Block” and the opportunity to meet the artist and purchase his work.

Moore creates portraits honoring individuals who have lost their lives tragically, including victims in the Las Vegas, Texas, Nashville/Waffle House and Parkland/Stoneman Douglas High School shootings.

Moore was born and raised in Alliance, and graduated from Alliance Commercial Art School. He continued his education and training over the years and was an accomplished artist when he noticed that his skills were declining. In 2004, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. After a severe bout with depression, Moore underwent a surgical procedure called deep-brain stimulation to help regain his skills.

“When I was getting the deep-brain stimulation, I promised myself that if I regained my artistic ability, I would use it to bless others,” said Moore. “Now, I create these portraits, along with my other pieces, to help heal the world.”
