UPDATE: Tonight’s virtual concert has been canceled. No new date has been announced.
The Dana Piano Trio will premiere a virtual recital 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14 on the McDonough Museum of Art and Cliffe College YouTube channels. The performance is part of the 2020 Muse Series.
The program will consist largely of works by Du Yun, Kaija Saariaho and Beethoven.
“Now in its fourth year, the Dana Piano Trio continues to match the best in contemporary music with established classics of the repertoire while providing world-class instruction for our students,” noted Dr. Randall Goldberg, director of the Dana School of Music.
The Muse Series features innovative expressions of contemporary culture, serving to enrich Northeast Ohio with recitals of new music and dynamic collaborations.
“It is such a pleasure for the McDonough Museum of Art to partner with the Dana School of Music on this series of performances that include DSM’s outstanding faculty surrounded by engaging works of art. We look forward to the second recital this semester by the Dana Piano Trio and feel very lucky to be able to share them online with the community through pre-recorded sessions,” said Claudia Berlinski, director of the McDonough Museum.
The Dana Piano Trio’s members — violinist Wendy Case, cellist Kivie Cahn-Lipman, and pianist Cicilia Yudha — each have active performing careers as soloists and chamber musicians. They hold degrees from many of the world’s most prestigious conservatories, including the Juilliard School, Cleveland Institute of Music, and Oberlin Conservatory.
Founded in 2017, the trio performs and teaches around the United States, including a Carnegie Hall debut in March 2019 in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the Dana School of Music.
