Individuals who want to learn how to better manage diabetes can attend a five-part series of live, virtual webinars offered by Penn State Extension.
The sessions will be held from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 27, and March 5, 12, 19. A follow-up class will be held from noon to 1:15 p.m. on June 18.
“Dining with Diabetes”” is taught by extension educators across Pennsylvania. The program is geared toward adults who have type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, have a family member with type 2 diabetes or are at risk for developing diabetes.
The live, virtual webinars are offered in real time and meant to be interactive. The course is divided into five sections: what is diabetes; meal planning, serving sizes and carbohydrate counting; heart-healthy eating; medications, monitoring and goal setting; and dining out.
Each section will provide participants with information designed to help manage diabetes, and registrants are encouraged to attend all five webinars in the series. Registration for this series is required by Feb. 23.
All course participants will receive the Dining with Diabetes cookbook and course handouts.
