Hundreds of fearless plungers and warm-hearted supporters will gather at Camp Fitch YMCA on Saturday, March 8 for the 15th Annual Polar Bear Plunge.

The annual event raises funds for scholarships to help send children to summer camp. Whether participants take the icy leap into Lake Erie or support from the warmth of their home, support helps make camp accessible.

“Camp Fitch is about changing lives and creating opportunities for every child to experience adventure, connection and personal growth,” said Tome Parker, Camp Fitch YMCA executive director. “The Polar Bear Plunge allows us to break barriers and ensure that cost is never a reason a child misses out on camp.”

Since its inception, the Polar Bear Plunge has helped provide scholarships to more than 40,000 children. Last year’s event raised over $200,000, funding a record number of summer camp scholarships.

“Camp has a lasting impact on a child’s confidence, friendships, and sense of belonging,” said Beth Scheller, CEO of the YMCA of Youngstown. “By supporting this event, our community is making sure more children have access to that experience.”

Participants can register individually or as a team and are encouraged to start fundraising today. To register and learn more, visit here.
