The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, in collaboration with Children’s Hunger Alliance, is distributing ready-to-eat meals available for pickup for ages 18 and younger at the Newport and Michael Kusalaba branch libraries.

Free ready-to-eat meals will be available for pickup from 2-6:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday. and 2-5 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

Although the Newport and Michael Kusalaba libraries are closed on Sunday, meals for Sundays and holidays can be picked up in advance. The food packages consist of non-perishable offerings. In keeping with COVID precautions, meals cannot be eaten inside the libraries.

The Library joins the Children’s Hunger Alliance as they strive to help feed children who have lost access to meals as a result of the pandemic.

Founded in 1970, the Children’s Hunger Alliance is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger. It partners with organizations throughout Ohio to provide nutritious meals to at-risk children.
