Public Library to host 5th annual Mah Jongg Tourney April 30
Mah Jongg players of all skill levels are invited to attend the annual tournament. The top three players receive cash prizes. There is a limit of 25 tables. (Public Library of Yougstown and Mahoning County)

Registration is now open for the Friends of the Library Canfield Committee’s 5th annual Mah Jongg Tourney. The fundraiser will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday, April 30 at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield.

Proceeds will benefit children’s programming across all branches of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. Over $2,000 was raised last year to provide books to children completing the Summer Reading Program.

Mah Jongg players of all skill levels are invited to attend the annual tournament. The top three players receive cash prizes. There is a limit of 25 tables.

The event begins with a meal and raffle ticket sales before tourney play at 10 a.m. The day closes with sweets and the announcement of game and raffle winners.

The Friends of the Library is a volunteer group that provides ongoing support to the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County through fundraising, book sales and advocacy. The 501c3 non-profit operates the Friends Bookstore located in the Poland Branch. Annual fundraisers include the Mah Jongg Tourney, Brew HaHa beer tasting, local author presentations, car shows, and book sales. The Friends Committee operates countywide and at branch libraries. New members are welcome.
