The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will present New York Times best-selling author Sandra Brown for its 2024 Literary Committee Author Event. The program occurs 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19 at Main Library, 305 Wick Ave., Youngstown 44503.

Tickets are $150. The event includes a reception, dinner, author presentation, a question-and-answer period and signed copies of the book “Out of Nowhere.” A limited number of tickets are available.

Proceeds benefit Library Foundation literacy programs, author events and the Carol A. Bacon Fund.

Brown is the author of over 70 New York Times bestsellers, including “Overkill,” “Blind Tiger,” “Thick As Thieves,” “Outfox,” Tailspin,” “Seeing Red,” “Sting” and “Mean Streak.” Writing professionally since 1981, she has published over 80 novels and has upwards of 80 million books in print worldwide. Her work has been translated into 34 languages.

Brown’s episode on truTV’s “Murder by the Book” premiered the series in 2008 and Brown appeared on Investigation Discovery’s “Hardcover Mysteries” in 2010. Television movies have been made of her novels, including “French Silk”, “Smoke Screen,” “Ricochet” and “White Hot.”

Brown has served as president of Mystery Writers of America. In 2008, she was named Thriller Master, the top award given by the International Thriller Writer’s Association. She has an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Texas Christian University.

Other honors include the Texas Medal of Arts Award for Literature and the Romance Writers of America’s Lifetime Achievement Award. She has gone on two USO tours to Afghanistan and Cuba. She lives in Texas.
