INGREDIENTS
2 cans whole water chestnuts, drained
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 lb. sliced bacon
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Open package of bacon, and slice into thirds. In a bowl, mix brown sugar and soy sauce until smooth. Add water chestnuts and coat thoroughly. Take one strip of bacon and wrap around each water chestnut. Place each wrapped chestnut, seam-side down on a release-foil lined baking sheet. Carefully brush remaining soy mixture over chestnuts. Bake until crispy and golden brown, about 20 minutes. Keep checking, as you don’t want them to burn. Cool slightly, and insert cocktail skewers or toothpicks into each chestnut before plating.
