INGREDIENTS
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 cup walnuts (ground)
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4½ tablespoons rum or imitation rum extract
2½ sticks butter or margarine (room temperature)
1 cup powdered sugar
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 375.
On a board or counter top, make a mound with the flour and sprinkle with baking powder, sugar, walnuts.
Make a well and drop in the eggs, vanilla and 3 tablespoons rum. Cut the butter (or margarine) into slices and lay over the top. Knead ingredients into a smooth dough.
Put in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Roll out to approximately 1/8-inch thickness and cut dough with a star-shaped cookie cutter.
Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown. Cool.
Mix powdered sugar with 1½ tablespoons rum into a glaze. Spread over baked cookies.
Makes approximately 110 small star cookies. May vary with the size of cookie cutter used.
