“Scriptless in Seattle” returns to Youngstown this week as part of its 2025 tour. The live touring comedy show features improvised dialogue and performances.
The interactive show will occur 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 13 at the Youngstown Playhouse, 1600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown.
Audience members will get to play an active role in the show, building scenes with their suggestions and coming up on stage to be a part of the action. This allows the audience to directly influence the trajectory of the scenes.
“I’ve been touring with this show for years and doing improvised comedy shows for even longer,” said tour manager and emcee Justin Folger. “The real fun is of the hundreds of shows I’ve put on, not one of them was even similar to the ones before it.”
Folger has been in front of crowds without a script for eight years now and performer James Trombka has been with the group since the show’s beginnings.
“I love looking out at the audiences, seeing everyone from families with young kids to couples that have been together 55 years on a night out, and knowing that every one of them will leave with a smile on their face,” said Trombka.
“The people of Youngstown should expect high-quality, family-friendly entertainment,” said Charlie Hubbell, a comedian performing with the troupe.
“Scriptless in Seattle” draws inspiration from the hit British and American TV show, “Whose Line is it Anyway.”
“If you like ‘Whose Line,’ you’re in for a real treat,” Hubbell added. “We take suggestions from the audience and use them to create improvised musicals, film noirs, game shows, and we’ll even serenade individual members of the audience—all composed on the spot.”
Youngstown is part of a national tour that includes stops in Ohio, Tennessee, New Hampshire, Maine, North Dakota, Colorado, Florida and Oklahoma.
