Sept. 26: Dana Alumni Recital Series to feature trio in virtual concert

The Dana Alumni Recital Series will feature the trio of Rosie Bresson, Dan Mihelarakis and Jesse DeLorenzo 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26 on the Cliffe College and McDonough Museum of Art YouTube channels. This concert premiere is a prerecorded event.

The Dana Alumni Recital Series is a collaboration between YSU’s Dana School of Music and the McDonough Museum of Art.

Rosie Bresson (YSU)

Rosie Bresson received her bachelor’s in musical theater in May 2020, where at commencement she was a student speaker. Her recent theatrical credits include “Cabaret,” “Chicago,” “Into the Woods,” “How I Learned to Drive,“ and “The Last Five Years.” While at YSU, she was a member of the Dance Ensemble, Honors College, Alpha Psi Omega, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band and Horn Choir.

She has been a two-time Irene Ryan Scholarship nominee at the Region II Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, a 2018 Region II KCACTF Musical Theatre Initiative finalist, and attended the 2018 Open Jar Institute Summer College Intensive in New York City. She has worked as a director, music director and choreographer.

Originally from Canfield, she now resides in Youngstown, and plans to attend graduate school to earn a master’s in jazz vocal performance.

Jesse DeLorenzo (YSU)

Jesse DeLorenzo is a Youngstown-based freelance percussionist and teacher. He teaches privately while instructing Springfield Local High School’s drumline in New Middletown.

While at YSU, DeLorenzo performed with the YSU Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, and was a member of the Jazz Ensembles, Jazz Combos, YSU Marching Pride, and Percussion Ensemble.

He plays drum set for the Millennial Theater Company, most recently in their productions of “Chicago,” “Legally Blonde,” and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

He also works with other local musicians and bands, with performances on the following recordings: “Live My Life” by Highland Rose, “A Vision” by Honey Brother, and “Isness” by Nick Frank.

Dan Mihelarakis

Daniel Mihelarakis is a multi-instrumentalist and composer from Coraopolis, Pa. He is currently a senior at Youngstown State University, where he studies music composition.
