St. John’s collecting books for Taft Elementary Book Drive | All books must be delivered by Friday, Feb. 7.
St. John’s Episcopal Church is currently collecting books for its annual Taft Elementary Book Drive. The goal is to give three books to each of the school’s 250 children (or 1,000 books).
Students range from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. All books must be delivered by Friday, Feb. 7.
St. John’s offers these suggestions when choosing books:
- New books are important. Many children may have never had a new book. St. John’s also encourages diversity in book choices.
- Board books are ideal for non-readers.
- Small chapter books are suggested for fourth and fifth graders.
- Picture books are great for older school-age children.
- Reading level books are suggested for established readers.
St. John’s Episcopal Church is located at 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown 44503. The church office is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, call 330-743-3175 or visit of****@st********.org.
