‘Surface’ on display at Solomon Gallery through Oct. 30 | The exhibit is visible only through the glass doors of the gallery.
Youngstown State University’s Department of Art is presenting “Surface,” a one-wall exhibition in Bliss Hall’s Judith Rae Solomon Gallery, through Oct. 30.
The Judith Rae Solomon Gallery is located on the street level of Bliss Hall and open weekdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Masks are required in all areas of Bliss Hall.
The exhibit features paintings installed on one wall, visible only through the glass doors of the gallery to create a safe viewing area for patrons.
“We are eager to continue to showcase artwork to the community working within restrictions due to COVID-19. By having a series of one-wall exhibitions, we can utilize the beautiful Judith Rae Solomon Gallery in a new way. This allows patrons to safely view art exhibitions through the glass doors of the gallery,” said Joy Christiansen Erb, chairwoman of YSU’s Department of Art.
The exhibition features a selection of paintings from the project “Surface” in YSU professor Dragana Crnjak’s “Introduction to Painting” class.
Student work on display includes Emily Stonestreet, junior, McDonald; Naihomy Lebron, junior, Youngstown; Derrick Brubacher, junior, Boardman; Dylan Hawk, junior, Pittsburgh; Elijah Duponty, senior, Youngstown; Nicholas Helco, sophomore, McDonald; Natalie Walk, junior, Warren; Basha Guthrie, junior, Miami, Fla.; Rose Williams, junior, Farrell, Pa.
