Have you ever stored family heirlooms in the basement or attic due to a lack of space? Learn how environmental factors can either help preserve or hasten the deterioration of historic garments and textiles.
The Sutliff Museum will explain how to protect family heirlooms during “Victorian Collections and Coffee,” which occurs 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 13 in Boscov’s auditorium at the Eastwood Mall.
Environmental conditions, storage materials, pest control, light, and housekeeping all play an important role in what museum professionals call “preventative conservation.”
Speaker Joanne Fenn will share the simple steps museums take to preserve their collections and how people can apply preventive conservation to protect special items. Fenn is an associate professor and collections manager/museum registrar at Kent State University Museum.
About the museum – The Sutliff Museum is housed on the second floor of the Warren Public Library. For more information, visit www.sutliffmuseum.org… or call 330-395-6575. The museum also maintains pages on Facebook and Twitter.
