The Rayen School final walkthrough/auction – Oct. 27, 2007 | This photo album captures the final walkthrough at The Rayen School on Youngstown’s North Side. The 2007 open house gave Rayen alumni the opportunity to revisit their alma mater and say farewell. Ron Flaviano photographed the morning event, which included an auction of school material.
The school’s historic murals, which depict Youngstown at various times in its history, were removed prior to demolition and are on display at the Tyler History Center. Three photos from the installation are included in the photo set. For more information on the murals, see here.
The Rayen School was founded in 1866. The original building still stands on Wick Avenue and houses the administrative offices of the Youngstown Board of Education.

9 through 12th grade. I graduated in 1976 from there.
I have good memories of Rayen even though I only did 9th grade there before moving to liberty and then Cleveland.
Dale, Don’t know if you remember me. I lived on Gypsy between Selma and Coronado.
The ghosts of Rayen still haunt me.
