The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley is seeking volunteers to pack and deliver food during its Satur-Day of Caring on Saturday, Aug. 15.
Volunteers will start packing food at 9 a.m. and deliveries begin at 10 a.m. The group meets in the parking lot next to 100 DeBartolo Place in Boardman, behind Southwoods Surgical Hospital.
The organization is seeking drivers to deliver food to seniors, shut-ins, and families who cannot get out due to the threat of COVID-19.
Drivers will remain in their cars while volunteers pack food and assign routes. Drivers will then leave bags of food on the porches of pre-designated houses. Volunteers should reserve about two hours to make six to eight deliveries.
The United Way is currently establishing routes. Volunteers should contact Roxann Sebest by 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13. For more information, email
