As Paula notes in the introduction, the clock tower is a place where not too many people have been, including many bank employees.

We met Buildings Services Manager Stephen Puhalla and Home Savings advertising director Deb Herman who graciously answered all our questions. We discovered how the clock kept time (or sometimes didn’t) in the last century. We learned how it evolved from a traditional timekeeper to a device equipped with a computer microprocessor.

Paula’s joined by a small group in a surprisingly tight space, including Metro Monthly Publisher Mark C. Peyko, Homeplate videographer Ron Flaviano and Metro Monthly writer Gordy Morgan.

Two sets of stairs and a small ladder later, we got the story.
