Warren Mayor Douglas Franklin will discuss development in and near the downtown during an Oct. 3 Youngstown Press Club breakfast meeting.

FRANKLIN (City of Warren)

The event will begin at 8 a.m. at BRITE Energy Innovators, 125 W. Market St.

Warren’s downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods are slated for a major revitalization in the coming months and Franklin will discuss current and future projects connected to this effort.

Franklin, a Democrat who has been Warren’s mayor for 12 years, is unopposed for a fourth four-year term in that office in the Nov. 7 general election.

He cites the demolition of the blighted former St. Joseph Riverside Hospital building late last year and earlier this year as one of his major accomplishments.

Earlier in his public service career, Franklin was a member of Warren City Council, first representing the fourth ward, and later serving at-large. In 2000, he was elected City Council president. In 2004, he was appointed director of public service and safety.

Tickets are required for the breakfast and may be obtained by visiting youngstownpressclub.com…. The cost is $15 for club members and $20 for non-members. Reservations are due by Sept. 27.

The Youngstown Press Club was re-established in 2018 to promote journalism and other communication-related professions in the Mahoning Valley.
