WFMJ and Youngstown journalist Bertram de Souza will host a live online video debate featuring the three Youngstown mayoral candidates appearing on the Nov. 2 general election ballot.
The debate will be aired 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19 on WFMJ.com and Bertram de Souza’s The Scribbler Publishing Group YouTube Channel and Facebook page.
Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown, the Democratic nominee, Tracey Winbush, the Republican nominee, and Richard Hill, an independent, will engage in a free-flowing discussion of the major challenges confronting Youngstown, including crime and population loss.
The candidates will be questioned by veteran journalists Bertram de Souza and Cynthia Rickard, who spent 40 and 41 years at the now closed Youngstown Vindicator, and Rose Carter, executive director of ACTION, a multi-denominational grassroots organization.
The debate will take place in a studio at 21 WFMJ in downtown Youngstown.
Viewers will have a chance to join in the live broadcast by calling in using the free Discord app, emailing questions and comments to
