WYSU-FM is announcing its special programming for the holiday season. Broadcasts will begin airing Monday, Dec. 16 and continue through Christmas Day.
The schedule offers a mix of local and syndicated programs, including ”A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols,” which airs Dec. 24 from the chapel of King’s College in Cambridge, England.

- A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. “Pipedreams” host Michael Barone presents this legendary live service of spoken-word and music (choral and organ) broadcast from the chapel of King’s College in Cambridge, England. 10 a.m.-noon.
- All Is Bright. Program host Lynne Warfel offers an hour of contemplative choral music that tells the traditional Christmas story. Noon–1 p.m.
- Carols at Home with the Imani Winds. Features a modern take on classic Christmas carols. Hosted by Toyin Spellman-Diaz, Imani Winds founding oboist. 1-2 p.m.
- Classical 24. Music for the holiday season from Classical 24. 2-3 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 25
- Welcome Christmas. This program is a perennial Christmas favorite from VocalEssence. Host Bonnie North will feature an hour of traditional carols and new discoveries. 9-10 a.m.
- Chanticleer Christmas. This centuries-spanning program ranges from Renaissance masterworks to spirituals. 10 a.m.–11 p.m.
- Pittsburgh Symphony Radio. Messiah Music Director Manfred Honeck leads the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and soloists in Handel’s ”Messiah.” 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Your Classical Christmas Favorites. An hour holiday special highlighting the top carols based on listener votes. Hosted by Tom Crann and Valerie Kahler. 1-3 p.m.
- Performance Today. Live performances of holiday music from around the country. 7-9 p.m.
