The 2023 Youngstown Area Jewish Film Festival begins Sunday, Oct. 15.
The annual film festival takes participants on a cultural journey that depicts a broad spectrum of Jewish life. The films shown come from all over the world, providing audiences with a glimpse into the Jewish experience.
Unless otherwise noted, the films will be shown at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane.

Films to be shown are:
“The Prince of Egypt” – (1998). Animated. 1 hour, 39 minutes. (PG). DreamWorks. Animated family film tells the biblical story of Moses. Stars a number of Hollywood actors in voice roles, including Val Kilmer (Moses/God), Ralph Fiennes (Rameses) and Michelle Pfieffer (Tzipporah). The film includes a family pizza party at 12:30 p.m. Presale tickets required for the pizza party. 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15.
“The Fabelmans” – (2022). Drama. 2 hours, 31 minutes. (PG-13). Universal Pictures. A young, aspiring Jewish filmmaker discovers a dark family secret. Directed by Steven Spielberg. Stars Michelle Williams, Gabriel LaBelle, and Paul Dano. The film received seven Academy Award nominations. 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15.
“10 Questions for Henry Ford” – (2021). Drama. 1 hour, 7 minutes. Not rated. Andy Kirshner Films. From the imdb.com… film description: “In a moment marked by resurgent anti-Semitism and white nationalism, ‘10 Questions’ follows the lingering ghost of Henry Ford on a journey through modern-day Detroit, confronting a world that is both profoundly disorienting and distressingly familiar.” The film includes a question-and-answer with filmmaker/director Andy Kirshner. “A Night of Short Films” – Features the film “More Than a Roll with a Hole.” 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18.
“Gentleman’s Agreement” – (1947). Drama. 1 hour, 58 minutes. (Not rated). 20th Century Fox. A reporter goes undercover for an article on anti-Semitism. Directed by Elia Kazan. Stars Gregory Peck, Philip Schuyler Green, Dorothy McGuire, and Celeste Holm. The film will be screen at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., Youngstown 44503. 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 22.
“Reckonings” – (2022). Documentary. 1 hour, 14 minutes. (Not rated). German and Jewish leaders seek reparations six years after the Holocaust. Directed by Roberta Grossman. 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24.
“Speer Goes to Hollywood” – (2020). Documentary. 1 hour, 37 minutes. (Not rated). Realworks. From the imdb.com… film description: “How did a man in charge of 12 million slaves become ‘the good Nazi?’ A cautionary tale about Albert Speer’s 1971 attempt to whitewash his past with a Hollywood adaptation of his bestselling wartime memoir, ‘Inside the Third Reich.’ ” Stars Albert Speer.
