Festival update: Due to safety issues related to the Realty Tower explosion downtown, the Simply Slavic festival has relocated to the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre.
7th Annual Car Show. New Castle School of Trades, 4117 Pulaski Road, New Castle, Pa. 16101. Phil Riggs, 724-290-3870. Occurs on the New Castle School of Trades campus. This four-class show features custom trophies. Includes a D.J., food, tool truck, vendors and raffles. Gates open at 8 a.m. with dash plaques for first 200. Main Street Kent Art & Wine Festival. N. Water Street, downtown Kent 44240. The Art & Wine Festival is presented by Main Street Kent and The River Merchant. Features Ohio wineries, local artists, live music and food trucks. Music occurs from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Hometown Bank Plaza and Brewhouse patio. 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturday, June 1.
Croatian Festival. Strossmayer Croatian Picnic Grounds, 4202 Smith Stewart Road, Vienna 44473. 330-507-6660. Features roast lamb, haluski, sarma (Croatian stuffed cabbage), strudel, burek (filled pastries), a cookie bakeoff, live music, dancing and folk group performances. Weathersfield Flag Festival. 3750 S. Main St., Mineral Ridge 44440. Features a parade (6 p.m., Friday), live music, food, vendors, bocce, carnival games and a beer tent. The Rumble-In-The-Ridge Car Show also occurs in the Community Park and Fairgrounds (10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday) and the Color Run (10 a.m., Saturday). June 6-8.

. The 38th annual festival celebrates African American heritage and culture. The three-day festival features African vendors, food trucks, live music and disc jockeys. A parade occurs Saturday at 11 a.m. (originating at Grace AME on Main Avenue and continuing to Courthouse Square). The Ohio Players will perform Saturday from 6-9 p.m. at the Warren Community Amphitheatre. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted. 11 a.m.-9 p.m each day. June 7-9.
Living Dead Weekend Monroeville 2024. Monroeville Mall, 200 Mall Circle Drive, Monroeville, Pa. 15146. This annual festival celebrates George A. Romero’s iconic “Dawn of the Dead” and the entire library of films based on “The Living Dead” series. The festival also celebrates “Dawn of the Dead” in the place it was filmed (Monroeville Mall) and the people who made it. The event includes movie screenings, celebrity appearances (Joe Shelby from “Dawn of the Dead”), official merchandise, panel discussions and location tours. Visit the website for more information. . This two-day festival features food, ethnic music, folk dancing, a Slavic Marketplace, a heritage tent (with educational information and exhibits), and a Slavic beer garden with imports. Festival-goers should enter at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre main gate. There will be a security swipe at the entrance, but purses and bags are permitted. Parking is available on various downtown surface lots. Simply Slavic will provide tables and chairs for dining. Festival-goers are invited to bring a stadium chair or blanket for the lawn.
