Tour de Donut. Westminster College Memorial Field House, New Wilmington, Pa. 16142. This 5K and scenic ride takes place on light to moderately traveled roads in Lawrence County. Drinks, snacks and doughnuts will be supplied for all riders at designated stops along the routes. Riders must sign in at Memorial Field House to participate. Each loop begins and ends at Westminster. Riders must wear a helmet while cycling. Routes: “Apple Castle Ride” (10 miles). Offers Amish country and a visit to the Apple Castle; “Country Roads” (29 miles). Offers scenery, lightly traveled roads, and a country store stop; “The New Wilmington Dirty Dozen” (40 plus miles). A hilly course for more experienced riders. Includes a rest stop near the Volant Mill; “Amish Farms and Covered Bridge Tour” (30 miles). Travels through the Amish farm areas around New Wilmington. Includes a stop at the at Apple Castle. Event sponsors say intermediate riders should be OK with the hills. Includes some busy roads and crossings. The Donut Dash 5K occurs Friday, June 9.
