The 34th Annual Gobble Wobble 5k returns to Buhl Park on Thanksgiving Day. This year’s proceeds benefit the Shenango River Watchers. T-shirts are available for an additional charge to all participants who register by Friday, Nov. 12. A limited number of shirts will be available after that on a first-come, first-serve basis. Race-day registration opens at 8 a.m. and the race will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration (until midnight Nov. 22), $10); Race-day registration, $15 per person.

Columbiana’s Joy of Christmas Light Show 2022. Harvey S. Firestone Park, 298 E. Park Ave., Columbiana 44408-1355. The Joy of Christmas Light Show features a drive-through holiday light display held on select nights in November and December. The show features over 1 million Christmas lights. In addition to the light displays, visitors can stop at the Gingerbread House and Santa’s Ice Castle for Christmas cookies, hot chocolate, and food for purchase from local non-profit organizations. Also includes pictures with Santa in the Ice Castle (for purchase; no outside photography) and an indoor train display. 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25. $20 per vehicle (cash only, $40 for a season pass, or $3/person in a passenger van, motor coach, or bus.

The public is welcome to stop by and visit the facility as the downtown and city beautification organization prepares for renovations. A selection of wreaths, garlands, swags, and greenery will be available for purchase. Pre-orders are recommended. Additional Youngstown items for sale include notecards, hats, and T-shirts. Last year some items sold out, so pre-orders are suggested. 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 26; 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 3.

Cortland Christmas Tree Lighting. W. Main Street, downtown Cortland 44410. Occurs in the green space and large parking lot across from the old Cortland Bank. Local businesses and organizations will be open for Small Business Saturday. Other activities: Horse-drawn carriage rides (3-7 p.m.), a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus (4-6 p.m.), and Christmas tree lighting (6 p.m.). The event includes hot cocoa, hot cider, and assorted cookies sponsored by Just Pizzelles and Sparkle Market. Children can make ornaments in the ornament-making station to hang on the Cortland tree or take home. Students of the Lakeview High School choir/band will lead the visitors in caroling. 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
