University Theatre continues its 2023-24 season with “Scapin,” a classic farce. The student production opens tonight and runs on weekends through Sunday, Nov. 19.
The comedy occurs Nov. 10-12 and 17-19 at the Ford Theater, located in Bliss Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday performances start at 2 p.m.
The play is directed by Todd Dicken. Olivia Vargas is stage manager.
The comedy follows the adventures of Scapin, a mischievous servant. The play love triangles and manipulative schemes and explores the themes of deception, forgiveness, and the triumph of wit.
The cast includes Cherish Michele, Pittsburgh; Cyrus Dzikowski, Pittsburgh; Natalie Ciccone, Austintown; Natalie Horvath, Hubbard; Lauren Ladd, Hubbard; Lex McCaughtry, Lowellville; Nicholas Figiel, Greenville, Pa.; Aidan Holderfield, Alliance; Anthony Mudryk, Struthers; Ben Schatzel, Brookfield; Gunnar Carwile, Hicksville, Ohio; Torrance Bajuszik Saxonberg, Pa.; Begad Farid, Alexandria, Egypt.
All seats are general admission. Adult tickets are $16, and special rate tickets are $12 for non-YSU students, YSU alumni, YSU faculty and staff, senior citizens, Penguin Club members, and groups of eight or more. YSU students are free with a valid I.D.
